With
the possible exception of an aircraft,
the most dangerous place to be when things
go wrong is on a boat. You have to be
prepared for the possibility that you
might breakdown, get ill or hurt, become
lost, start taking on water or any of
the myriads of things that can and do
happen. What
if your boat sinks, runs aground or capsizes?
When events like this happen to
you, what will you do about it? Keep
these facts in mind. The U.S. Coast
Guard policy generally prohibits towing,
jump-starting or passing fuel. Local
Harbormasters often won't respond beyond
their 1 mile town limit. Very few
fellow boaters will tow you because of
liabillity concerns.
